There is something inherently magical about a Northeast Florida sunset reflecting off the water. Whether you’re dreaming of the moss-draped live oaks along the St. Johns River or the golden salt marshes of Yulee and St. Marys, choosing a riverfront venue is the first step to a wedding that feels both timeless and coastal.
As a photographer, I see these venues through a different lens—literally. I’m not just looking at the guest capacity; I’m watching how the light hits the dock at golden hour and where the river breeze provides the perfect veil toss. Having captured countless ceremonies along these banks, I’ve seen firsthand which spots offer the best natural backdrops and that "Old Florida" soul.
To help you find your dream location, I’ve compiled the definitive list of riverfront venues in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Yulee, and St. Marys. Below, I’m highlighting six of my personal favorites where I’ve had the honor of documenting love stories, along with several other stunning riverside gems you won’t want to miss.

Fort George island, FL

The Vibe: Classic Old Hollywood Glamour
Why I love shooting here: Walking onto the grounds of The Ribault Club feels like stepping back in time. The crisp white architecture and massive columns give off a sophisticated "Old Hollywood" energy that is a dream to photograph. Because it’s surrounded by protected parkland, the light is clean and the atmosphere is incredibly private—perfect for couples who want a classic, timeless aesthetic.

Orange Park, FL

The Vibe: Sophisticated Estate with a "Plan B" Dream
Photographer’s Insight: We always hope for sun, but Azaleana Manor is one of the few places where I love when it rains. The interior library is one of the most stunning indoor ceremony or portrait backdrops in Northeast Florida. During a recent rainy shoot here, we used the moody, intellectual vibe of the library to create photos that felt editorial and intimate, proving that your wedding photos can be breathtaking regardless of the weather.

Yulee, FL

The Vibe: Expansive, Raw, Coastal Beauty
Photographer’s Insight: I’ve captured this venue in the cold and the rain, and it only added to the romance. Sugar Pointe is massive, and even on a "bad weather" day, the way the mist sits over the St Marys River is pure magic. The long pier and the "Sugar Shack" provide a rustic yet polished grit that looks amazing in photos. It’s a testament to the fact that when you have a great venue and a great connection, the weather just becomes part of the story.

St Marys, GA

The Vibe: Charming, Historic Riverside
Why it’s special: This was the site of my very first wedding, so it holds a special place in my heart. This park is a hidden gem for photography—the combination of the river breeze, the historic gazebo, and the easy-going waterfront walkway makes for effortless, airy photos. It’s proof that you don't need a massive ballroom to have a gallery full of "wow" moments.

St. Augustine, FL

The Vibe: Coastal History & Old World Charm
Photographer’s Insight: This venue is a dream because you get two iconic St. Augustine looks in one location. You have the world-famous oak canopy of Magnolia Avenue for portraits, and then a wide-open waterfront ceremony space on the Matanzas River. My favorite feature is the 600-foot pier—it’s perfect for capturing those "epic" wide shots of the couple against the water. Plus, the peacocks roaming the grounds add a unique, whimsical touch to the wedding gallery that you just won't find anywhere else!

Club Continental
The Vibe: European Estate Meets Old Florida
Why it’s My Favorite: If I could design a venue from scratch, it would look like this. From the Italian Renaissance architecture to the iconic 1920s getting-ready rooms, it feels like a destination wedding in the heart of Orange Park. The sunsets over the St. Johns River here are unmatched, and the sheer variety of backdrops means your gallery will look incredibly high-end. It’s the perfect blend of European elegance and affordable luxury.
