Life, love, laughter

Lamar’s Cafe and gift shop. Ecuadorian and family owned in goldsboro, north carolina since 1998.

Don’t let the outside fool you, here is a place that has been many things over the years. It almost looked like an old motel from the outside when I first arrived. But when the Lamar Family bought it in 1998 they created a place to serve the community. It has been a bar with pool tables to a coffee shop with a learning center. It has become a place for community and service with an event space plus more.

Vintage industrial corridor with red chairs, rustic wall decor, and potted plants along a white brick wall.
A vintage-style yellow and black sign for Lamar's and Project Hope stands tall against a clear blue sky with power lines.
A rustic white building with the Zaruma Gold Coffee logo and text displayed on a circular wooden sign.
Small white building with golden Cahaba logo on wall and red door sits along a paved lot on a cloudy day.

Lamar’s is a must stop if you are in the area! A little slice of Ecuador on the East Coast. Try the rose latte and empanadas. Buy a bag or two of Zaruma Gold Coffee, beautiful jewelry and trinkets, all straight from Ecuador! Find Mrs Betty, the owner, so she can tell you her incredible story and ask for a tour of all the rooms so you can experience it for yourself. The Prayer Room is my favorite.

I could have spent all day at Lamar’s and I can’t thank the Lamar Family enough for letting me capture their heart. It is not just a Coffee Shop, but an experience, which will be perceived differently from all that enter.
